A Southwest airplane en path to Cancun, Mexico managed to make a secure touchdown after flames had been seen taking pictures out of its proper wing.
The incident was caught on video after Tuesday’s flight took off from William P. Pastime Airport in Houston, Texas. In a press release obtained by PEOPLE on Thursday, a spokesperson for the airline shared that the flight, recognized as Southwest Flight #307, “returned to the airport on Tuesday evening after experiencing a mechanical difficulty shortly after takeoff.”
“The plane landed safely and was taken out of service for assessment,” the airline added in its assertion. “A distinct plane continued the flight to Cancun final night, and we respect our clients’ endurance and assist.”
The video confirmed the flight flying over a cloudy sky when the sudden sight started to happen. A passenger on the airplane shared with CBS affiliate KHOU that the airplane started to swing left and proper in the course of the incident.
“I believe I fly a couple of times a month, and I knew that wasn’t regular, and so I opened up my window, and I’m sitting subsequent to the engine, and that complete engine you see like fireballs popping out of it,” shared Coale Kalisek, who mentioned he was heading to journey hotspot on trip together with his girlfriend.
Fellow passenger Jordan Kleinecke spoke out in regards to the incident, telling ABC Information: “We felt like just a little air pocket going up. After which I heard the increase … and then you definately began smelling the gas.”
